Pembrokeshire YFC BIG Adventure 2018
250 miles, 27 cyclists, 4 days. The Pembrokeshire YFC BIG Adventure 2018 is almost underway – and we were more than happy to support!
250 miles. That’s the challenge facing 27 members of the Pembrokeshire Young Farmers Club when they set off on their bikes on Tuesday 1st May 2018. The Pembrokeshire YFC BIG Adventure 2018 will see the budding cyclists travel from Haverfordwest Showground to the Annual Young Farmers convention in Blackpool, raising money for three charities; Pembrokeshire YFC, Prostate Cymru and Wales Air Ambulance along the way.
Here at Puffin Produce we’re always keen to support a local challenge and local charities, and actually have two members of our team, Lucy and Aled, taking part! As well as sponsoring the cycling kit for their mammoth journey, we’ll also be there to wave the team off on Tuesday morning.
The past five months have been dedicated to training, with members of the group meeting up every weekend to get in the miles of cycling needed in preparation for such an event. Not only have the group been training during the past few months, but charity fundraising and organising logistics for such a challenge have taken over, with the group speaking daily. The members will be cycling 75 miles to Aberystwyth on day one, a further 80 miles to Oswestry on day two, 45 miles to Liverpool on day 3 and finally 50 miles to Blackpool on day 4.
Pembrokeshire YFC County Chairman Non Thorne said: “Each year the YFC County Chairman chooses their own unique challenge or fundraiser, and this year I thought I’d push the boundaries with an endurance challenge.
“So far, we’ve raised over £4000 for our three charities – the support we’ve received from friends, family and local businesses has been exceptional. We’re truly overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity.
“Can I take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped and donated. Without your support this adventure wouldn’t have been possible.”
Good luck to all taking part in the Pembrokeshire YFC BIG Adventure 2018!
