Welsh Daffodils are a blooming marvellous donation for St. Davids Day!

We’ve been busy delivering over 1,000 bunches of wonderfully Welsh daffodils to our communities here in Pembrokeshire, just in time for St. Davids Day!

The Daffodils, which are sold under the ‘Blas y Tir’ brand to supermarkets throughout Wales, have been donated to local care homes, leisure centres and community centres throughout Pembrokeshire to celebrate St. Davids Day.  “We think it’s really important that Welsh consumers throughout Wales have Welsh daffodils on their kitchen tables in time for St. Davids Day” explains Megan Tye, Marketing Manager at Puffin Produce, “and we’re proud to be able to donate over 1,000 bunches of daffodils to our local community to make sure that happens!”

Sue Thomson, a service manager in Pembrokeshire County Council’s social care directorate, was full of praise for Puffin’s generous gesture. “The residents and staff of Hillside and Havenhurst were delighted to receive beautiful bunches of daffodils from Puffin Produce” she said. “It brightens up their day to see these lovely flowers around our homes. We are really grateful that Puffin Produce thought of us to receive such a lovely gift.” Jaclyn Jones, the manager of the Hillside Care Home in Goodwick, said: “The flowers have brought smiles to the faces of our residents and to everyone visiting the home. It really feels like spring is in the air.”

We’ve been growing the national flower of Wales in Pembrokeshire for over 10 years, and are the only national supplier of Welsh daffodils to Welsh supermarkets. “As the home of Welsh fresh produce, St. Davids Day is a key event in our diary and we take pride in being the only national supplier of Welsh daffodils to supermarkets throughout Wales” explains Megan. “This year we’re growing over 700,000 bunches – that’s almost 12 million individual flowers!”
